What are the steps in the Auction?
1) The seller lists their ROCs they are wanting to sell
2) Buyers Bid in the same way as a traditional auction
3) When the auction is completed, emails are automatically sent to the winning buyer and successful seller
4) The seller transfers their ROCs directly to the buyer
5) The buyer transfers the proceeds directly to the seller
Roc-Port has not involvement in the process other then to provide a matching service and willing buyer and willing seller
Is there a minimum or maximum number of ROC's that I need to sell in an auction?
There is no minimum or maximum number of ROC's you need to sell with Roc-Port. You can start selling from as little as 1 ROC.
What is the Ofgem Renewables and CHP register?
This register records information on various government renewable and CHP schemes. It records information about the ROC's you wish to buy or sell.
A buyer must have an account registered with Ofgem if they intend to place a bid. Without this, a successful bidder would not be able to receive the ROC's won in the auction. This is the reason the bidder must have an account registered with Ofgem before they are able to start bidding.

What is the Renewable Obligation?
The Renewable Obligation (RO) is a market-based mechanism which is designed to incentivise electricity suppliers to buy a certain percent (the obligation) of their electricity supply from renewable energy. This obligation rises each year. For 2008, it is 9.1%
What is Sniper Protection?
This option is designed to stop people placing a bid right at the last minute and winning the auction, also known as ‘sniping’! It works as follows: If a bid is placed in the last 10 minutes of the auction, the auction will be extended by a further 10 minutes. It means everybody gets a fair chance to place a competing bid towards the end of the auction, and usually helps the seller to get a true value for their auction.
What is the Renewable Obligation?
It is a UK based scheme that incentivises the generation of electricity from renewable sources.
Electricity Generators earn Renewable Obligation Certificates or ROCs for every MW/h of renewable electricity generated and sell their ROCs to Electricity Suppliers who in turn present their ROCs to OFGEM to prove that they have met their obligation.
